Manly
I’m back in Australia. Manly Beach, to be precise. The boat is getting re-rigged, making this a great time to tend to some client work.
One of my favorite clients is based here in Sydney. I have the genuine privilege of spending the week with them at their regular executive offsite as they work on strategy and work on becoming a great leadership team. It is beautiful to see. They are a delightful group of people truly intent on becoming the best version of themselves as leaders. They hold this meeting out on Manly Beach.
Coming to Manly starts at Sydney Airport, taking the train to Circular Quay, and then boarding the ferry to Manly. It’s about a 20-minute trip across Sydney Harbour, one of the most beautiful natural harbors in the world.
I typically arrive from California early Sunday morning, and my ferry ride to Manly travels past all the boats out sailing. It is amazing how vast and popular sailing is here: Big boats, small boats, regattas, and pleasure sails. I sit on the ferry’s upper deck, imagining us sailing here on our own boat.
Manly has a great, low-key, surf town vibe, a nice break, and a stunning beach. I was here back in March at the end of their summer, and it was quite busy and warm. But June is the start of winter. The crowds are gone, the weather is cool, and the sea is calm. It’s interesting to see how the town changes with the seasons.
I’d love to sail Roam here. If you know of anyone with mooring in Manly Harbor who would be willing to rent it, we’re interested!
